From the regional financial hub to most multinational companies to a major tour and travel destination, Hong Kong approaches one with many personas. Boasting a metropolitan city, Hong Kong boasts of an extremely busy place, for the fast moving and the adventurous, Hong Kong is the best place to be. One who comes here for vacation will definitely be spoilt for choice, as for the business traveler, nowhere around the region will be a better place to be than to be in Hong Kong for business where one can experience a fusion of work and play, at its best. Hong Kong has come about many changes over the past few years. From the political administration to the new airport to new attractions, she has had a lot of refurbishments and improvements, as natural as it comes, ever changing, ever improving. ![]() Hong Kong is a vibrant city, filled with activities in the day and in the night, where Cantonese is mostly spoken. Hong Kong returned to China’s administration in 1997, from the British. Even if this is so, not much has changed in the nature of living. The normal lifestyle in Hong Kong is fast and sometimes furious. Much can be said about the mannerism in Hong Kong. To some it might be rude but to be residing in an economical dynamic country like this it is somewhat inevitable. Therefore visitors should note that the motions here are very hurried and sometimes tensed. Coupled with the understanding of English language, one should not find any problem getting help when needed. While a big portion of the population here practices Taoist Buddhism or one or the other, another 5% are Christians, most of these festivals are celebrated with much fanfare every year. Economically, Hong Kong is one of the fastest growing and moving one in Asia, if not the world. For leisure, the infamous Lam Kwai Fong, Repulse Bay to name a few will always strike great momentum among the yuppies and the working society. Food on the other hand is rather straight forward, with local and international cuisine available at arm’s length, almost anywhere great food can be found where local Chinese food always strike a note with locals and visitors. While most food and local cuisine can be found in any restaurants, the Tea Cafes (Cha Charn Teng) are the best place to savor the local delights. Very much like the fast food chains, one should be able to try the food that seen most on the media like the mix (tea and coffee) the peanut butter toast and the cheese baked rice. As tourism plays a pivotal role in the economy of this country, a lot of focus have been put in place to make anyone’s stay here as hassle free as possible. English is understood all over the country although Cantonese is most widely spoken. One should take heart that although not really used for conversation in around the country, most of the population here are able to understand the language, therefore one should not have any qualms about visiting Hong Kong. Neighboring countries are always at arm’s length should anyone wishes to visit. Places like Macau is the top most visited place for its wide range of historical and casino attractions. Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, all belonging to Mainland China have since been booming with visitors ever since the handover, easing immigration requirements and visitors. |
